A client company headquartered in New England, US, is a 100+ year old retail business. As part of the succession plan, the next President was identified (family member), and needed executive coaching to close gaps for his new role as President. Specific development areas identified included: Communication, influence, delegation, organization, and strategic planning. In addition to coaching the future President, the current CEO was included in facilitated meetings with the future President to providing feedback to the coachee and coach about progress.

 The Objectives of the Project:

  • E-mail, as needed during the coaching period

     

Process:

  1. Executive coached client Virtually via Skype video every other week for 6 months using Compassion and Compliance based approaches, which focuses more on positive changes, ideal self, dreams, vision and successes, and less on tasks and challenges.

  2. Facilitated meetings with the current CEO and future President to support increased communication, development, and have a pulse on progress

  3. Provided support resources and recommended practices to develop skills and behaviors

Results:

  • Client gained confidence in his ability to communicate, organize, plan, and delegate

  • Client added structure and processes to his daily work

  • Client build leadership effectiveness with his new current role

  • Future President was promoted to President role after 6 months of executive coaching as the next step in succession process to move him closer to the CEO role for the future.
